Yay... more weird sounds! :P
Seems like my 944 has problems every 3 month or so :P
Last time it was my radiator hose / mounts this time, its my tranny... :P Ok, so my car started to make this odd noise, and i really noticed when I go pass 60 mph. If i jerk my stealing wheel left really fast, the noise stops for a second. So i took it to a autoshop. They said my sound is coming from either left rear break and /or my transaxel. So they said i should redo my breaks and if noise is still there then they have to take it apart my transmission and see what it is.. ERRRRRgggg... Does this sound abour right or? any advice... .?

Could be your rear brakes. Some aftermarket pads are a tad undersized for the calipers and tend to rattle a bit. Does the sound go away when you brake? Instead of moving the wheel, try gently putting your foot on the brakes next time. Sorry can't help further, need more information to narrow it down.

Could well be a wheel bearing. If you turn left, it loads the right side of the car, quieting a bad bearing on the right side. Sounds counterintuitive, but it's true. Sinc the noise seems to be speed dependent, that's what I'd look for.

Just a thought! My 924 did the same thing but on right hand turns and under heavy acceleration! I went through everything in the back Tranny, Brakes and suspension. When all was said and done I found the exhaust pipe was close enough to the tunnel at the rear to hit the body. Once I repositioned the pipe and improve my clearance the noise vanished! This noise sound like every thing in the back was coming apart. Check your rubber exhaust mounts!!!!!!!

OK.. I (as a 924 owner) cannot believe you used the words "924" and "heavy acceleration" in the same sentence.

Heavy acceleration, it is all realitive from a Geo to GT40. A 924 2.0 in the right hands and with the right modifications can be down right refreshing. And I don't have the problems of a 2.5 in a 944. ( Did I check the tension on my belts, Is it time to change them etc.)

kinda reminds me as a rear wheel drive version of my rabbit. I just loved to abuse the holy crap out of that car and it drove better every time....

mine does the same thing...if i go into a left turn, i get a low groaning noise coming from the right side of the car....and its not a wheel bearing because I can hear the exhaust rattling and vibrating against the heat shield (its touching cuse i broke the exhaust hanger there). I guess the exhaust is swinging that way and touching something somewhere.
I got another noise today too..i get a slight clicking noise on deceleration under 20 mph coming from the left rear....going in a straight line...i think the parking brake shoe broke cuse i wacked a hard bump in the middle of a long right sweeper off ramp...

yeah....the more i think about it the more it sounds like it. Is it expensive for a new axle? or do you think it can be rebuilt?
I knew I shouldnt have waxed that mustangs ass....I always break something when im pushing the car...
