Radio Install Questions???
I was taking a look at the wiring diagram for the radio on my 88 944 and noticed that on the six pin connector one of the pins is not used and is a live 12V source. Is this power source good enough to fire the amp? Or do I still have to run a power wire straight to the battery? Will this compromise any performance or sound quality of the amp?
Thanks, Pat |
best to go straight to the battery with a fuse in-line close to the battery...easier to trace problems this way

DO NOT USE THAT WIRE. You could start an electrical fire under your dash. It is nowhere near large enough gauge to handle modern car amps, and probably would blow a fuse as soon as you used it (but if it didn't you'd be in bigger trouble). Run an 8-gauge (or larger) wire directly from the battery to the amp, with a good (40 amp or more) fuse on it close to the battery. Any car stereo shop, or even Best Buy, sells these premade. You might have to crimp the ends, but that's no big deal. Good luck.
