Is the friction disk supposed to be free-floating in the clutch assembly?

Good news... will pickup new clutch kit tomorrow yay! Disc, friction plate, TO bearing. I'll be taking pictures of everything for documenting... also so you can see where things are/have gone wrong. oy. still burns my nuts about everything falling apart.

At least when you get it back together you get to drive a Porsche. Imagine the same amount of dificulty in a car, with nearly routine necessary engine replacements at 80k intervals, and electrical problems so spontaneous and erratic you have no chance of ever finding and fixing them...then imagine, when you do get it running, you're stuck driving a Mazda.

(oh, but how I loved every problem with my FC...seriously...her without her problems would have been like chocolate cake without mustard...)

Whoops. friction plate/friction disk.

The part the clutch disk comes into contact with when you disengage the clutch from the flywheel.

Try this from the engine back:

Flywheel

Clutch disk

Pressure plate

Throw out bearing

TO guide tube

TO release arm
