US engine and Euro DME

My old Euro engine has poor piston rings and is in need of a major overhaul. Unfortunately I don't have the time to do this before this weekend when the car will run a endurance race (6h). Sitting in the garage is a US engine waiting to get its pistons changed but unfortunately I don't have the time to do that either.

The plan is to just swap engines and run the US engine as is. The only differences between the US and Euro engines are the US pistons that gives lower compression, 9.5 instead of 10.3 (or was it 10.5?)

I now have two alternatives:

1. Use the Euro DME. It will probably run a litte rich and have very defensive ignition timing. Should work.

2. Use the US DME. But without lambda/cat. The DME will fallback to some default values?

The car will only be raced with this configuration, no street driving. Full throttle at 4-6000RPMS is the only interesting case.

My main concern it not to ruin the US engine as it is in good shape and is going to be rebuilt/improved this winter.

US or Euro DME?

A reply from a man who knows. Good.

One less part to swap, saves me perhaps 15 minutes. But that's 15 more minutes on the beach in the sunny weather.

Yes, Sweden.
