951 oil change NEED HELP&ADVICE
FIRST OIL CHANGE. COULD NOT FIND MAHLE FILTER LOCALLY SO INSTALLED A BOSCH.----RETURN HOLES ON BOSCH ARE SMALLER BUT THERE ARE MORE THAN THE MAHLE---I ASSUME THIS IS O.K.???
REMOVED DRAIN PLUG DID NOT FIND PLASTIC WASHER BUT THERE WAS A METAL ONE--PART STORE CLAIMS THIS IS O.K. AND THAT SOMETIMES COPPER ONES ARE ALSO USED INSTEAD OF PLASTIC----IS THIS RIGHT????? THANKS FOR THE HELP I JUST DO NOT WANT TO MAKE A MISTAKE. |

Yup, should be an aluminum washer and need to replace whenever the drainbolt is removed. I order them here when ordering filters 1/2 dozen at a time.

DID NOT HAVE NEW ALUMINUM ONE SO I USED THE OLD ONE. IS THIS A MAJOR PROBLEM???

not if you like a clean garage floor...haha.
no i have reuse the gaskets myself when i forgot where i put the new ones i ordered. Actually these cars leak oil everywhere except the damn drain plug.
