DME question
what year(s) DME can i put in my '83 944? right now it has the stock unit, no mods, etc. if i were to put an '86 or later DME in it, what else do i have to change?
|
IIRC...mass air sensor, prolly idle stabliser valve too...then years 86-87 should work
anything else anyone? will the '88 work? (with higher comp. ratio); '89? (2.7 engine) etc |
I think you can use an 83, 84, and early 85...otherwise you will have to do the changes that carsontc mentioned

Hi nynor,
YOu'd probablly want to refer that question to Socal or F.R. Wilk.. wilk makes chips that will improve your Porsche. Better accelleration and throttle response all around.. he's THE guy to talk to.. FRank B |
what is a(n) IIRC?
|
|
i see...
so, IIRC, socal or some other venerable person, stated in a previous post, stated that they were using an '86 DME in their '83 or '84 944 without changing anything else. or they stated that they changed the MAF and the DME because the voltage is different for those years. |
The DME for the 83/84 should be 944.618.111.X
The 944.618.121.x version is for the 924S and later 944's. HTH. |
re frwilk's reply:
i want to do this because i can get the AFM and DME for less than $100. then i can get a powerprom2, without having to solder anything, and i think i save a few bucks. |
