Well,
I dont post too often but this I think is note worthy. I just finished a trip from San Diego to Cimmaron NM and back which ended up to be around 2300miles. On the way out through Pheonix the car ended up being really hot, (over the 3/4 mark, for me 1/4 is normal) and the lower radiator hose blew. This sucked because I had just replaced it because the old one had a cut in it. Fortunatly it had only slipped off and the other people I was travelling with got coolant for me and it was fixed. I left the A/C off for a long time after that and later even with it on it ran hotter then normal but about 1/2 to 3/4. the next 600 miles the car would do 80 but not as easily as it had before, it basically would not accelerate in 5th. After my 11 days backpacking, I pulled the plugs and found that they had bit the dust. 50 miles later I found a place that had the right ones and changed them. After that the car felt much better and I ended up also managing 29mpg. Which is a far cry from my normal 17. So now that i have most the bugs worked out later this week I will be off again across the country from CA to NY for school. So I will be making a huge diagonal up to Rochester. That will make for well over 5000 miles just this summer. right now its at 174800 and runs great. My only question is that I have a bra for the car and I had it on but took it off when it over heated, I havent had a chance to put it back on but does anyone know if it cuts off enough air flow to make a diffrence? I would like to keep the front end clean. My normal temp is on the bottom mark but in desert heat with A/C it was just below half and slightly above the quarter mostly. -Greg
