Unhappy My first 928 S4...

Soooo... now that i'm apprenticing for my buddy who's a p-car mechanic... I'm working on my first 928. it's an '83 S4. Car was brought in on a trailer since it wouldnt turn over. Replaced the battery and it intermittently starts. So i take the dash apart and fenagle the ignition switch wires where the bolts are... starts right up! Problem is the spring-return on the ignition switch is bad, and according to jay it will take "a month of sundays" to get the proper replacement ignition switch. Also something in the car is remaining on that drains the battery.

Nothing like troubleshooting electrical problems eh?

Do i smell another sock escapade?

I did that for 3 years in my FC RX7...lol...I ended up building 7 different wiring harnesses before finally getting all the major quirks de-quirked...good luck.

Nothing like a 928 to make the electrical grmlins of every other car appear tame!
BTW, are you sure it's an S4? I thought those didn't come along until later....

Well, if it's not an S4, then the owner must have added a decal

I'm sure i'll get it done tomorrow, if not, then wednesday. Also a silver 944 at the shop, which i believe is "all mine" to tackle tomorrow. Boy oh boy...

That would be so lame. But yeah, the S4 didn't show up until the 1987 model year. I know my 83s...
