My friend had bought something similar. In the ebay auction it never explained what it was. But he bought it anyways, all that came in the mail was an envelope with a resistor inside.

the auction is frustratingly vague. I can't even get an idea of what the thing is supposed to do, further than "remap your air/fuel mixture"
