Oil pressure at hwy speed

I've driven the 924 sparingly this summer and for whatever reason just recently paid attention to the oil pressure gauge, (probably because up til now i was more worried about overheating. seem to have that under control now).

Anyway at start up the oil pressure is at 40psi after driving for awhile at hwy speeds (legal speeds haha !) the oil pressure has dropped to as low as 20 psi.

Is this normal ? Does the use of Mobil-1 15-50 have anything to do with this. I have never had a car that uses synthetic oil before.

Thanks for the help.

Gary

Yet another unanswered oil pressure question. I'm new to the Porsche scene. I wish i could help, but at this time i'm still reading manuals and such.

Yes the oil pressure will drop once the engine gets up to temp. Mine starts off at 5 and drops to 3 once warmed up. I won't say anything about synthetic oils. Too many opinions here.
