Some pics and some questions (more pics)
First, the pics. Gratuitous shot of my engine:
![]() My upgraded brakes. Same size all around: ![]() And a question. Does anyone know what these wires do? I just noticed them today. Looks like a power and a ground. Could these just be leftover from the engine swap? ![]() Finally, my real dilemma. This car isn't working out for me. I bought it with the intention of slowly returning it to stock/street use, but that just doesn't make sense anymore, fiscally. I just found out I need a new heater blower motor (remove the dash) and all new a/c components before I can get climate control working. The speedo doesn't work, and I haven't started looking at why the tach doesn't work. It runs great and just had all belts done, new clutch put it, and some other misc stuff. The engine still has under 10k miles on it. Because it's modified so much I guess it would have to run in a special class but I really don't know anything about that, and I'm too busy with school to mess with track or auto-x, even though I'd like to someday. This car is ready to have a rollcage put back in, and pretty much ready to go right on the track. I have new street tires on it. The interior is a little rough but there's no reason it wouldn't make a great track car. My question is, what can I expect to get for it? I know I'm gonna take a loss on it, just because of all the money I put into repairs (over $5000) but I'm ok with that. What do you guys think? Here's a picture of the car for reference. BTW, it passed VA emissions and safety a few months ago.

I'm not sure. The later model DMEs were located behind the dash kick panel on the passenger side, correct? That is where mine is located. I should have looked when I had it out...

Some wheels look so much better w/o center caps.

Interesting car you've got there..........
An S2 motor, 951 front end, wheels, and rear spoiler attached to an otherwise early 944 N/A. Whoa! I'd love to hear how it got that way over the years.

Nate - thanks for the offer, but I'd need all four
. Plus, I'm trying to avoid putting unnecessary money into the car right now. Ender - I'm pretty sure they got them off a 928 donor. Same with the motor, out of a wrecked S2.

ernestedward--
you have a PM - oops. tried to PM and could not. I've got 4 hand painted center caps to fit your phones if/when you're interested (I did see your earlier post). You can PM if you like on details. I'm clearing my center cap inventory.

Those certainly do not look like S4 brakes on there in that photo of the front caliper/wheel, they look like the standard 951 or S2 calipers.
Is this the car that was for sale in New Jersey earlier this year?

Tifo- i'm pretty certain they are s4's. Is there some way I can check for sure? My mechanic said they were, as did the PO. Are S4 brakes the same as 951?
Nope, not the same one as in NJ.

In the attached pic is a 928S4 Caliper. They are smooth and have no "ribs" on the outboard side of the caliper, while the 951 calipers have the ribs and generally a raised section that says "Porsche" instead of the decal present on the S4 Calipers.

So do the rotors switch over too or will the calipers fit a standard 944 rotor(or aftermarket rotor)?

I stand corrected. Same size pads as the S4, tho.

Nope. The pads and rotors are not the same size. The S4 pads are larger, and the rotor is thicker with a larger diameter. There is no way an S4 pad will fit into a 951 caliper. Someone told you wrong. I hope that they have told you the truth about other aspects of the car.

Well, then somewhere along the line somethings weird with my car. I ordered S4 pads from pelican and they fit just fine. Perhaps I should try and take a better picture of my brake assembly when I have a tire off next..?
By the way, I'm not mad at all or anything. I actually relish the opportunity to learn more about what I actually have and new things in general about the 944s. Don't get the wrong impression tifo, I appreciate what you're doing.
