De-coking engine
 

Hi all,

Is there any way of de-coking an engine without having to take the head off? I've heard that using "Redex" and some how getting this direct into the injection will clean it. Apparently this will blow all the soot and crap out the exhaust!!! I don't want to try this for fear of doing more harm than good (especially to any passers-by as my car will be on the drive) Any ideas?

You can get some specific injection cleaner that you put in the petrol tank from halfords (or your local equivalent). There are many different kinds of cleaners, some will just do the injectors, others will do hydraulic lifters and others will just flush the engine. Take care, some go in the tank, others go into the oil - don't get it wrong or £££s

I've tried most of them with similar effects. STP, Wynns etc. and they do work.

something i found that works good to get carbon out is SeaFoam, you can get it at napa
