Got a wave from a Cayenne!

It this the first time anyone's gotten a Cayenne wave?

Now, I never expect to get a wave back when I wave at Cayennes, but I always wave at every Porsche I pass... most of the time they either don't see me (get off the cell phone, 996 drivers!) or don't understand why I'm waving (I'm looking at you, female Boxster drivers!), but I wave anyhow.

Well yesterday I passed a black Cayenne S on my way to work in Avon. Driver was on his cell phone (of course!), but I wave anyhow. He waved back immediately! I couldn't believe it.

Maybe he's one of those Porsche guys that has a Cayenne for his daily driver and a 911 in the garage?

i got a wave from a newish white convertible 911 the other day... he initiated it, i was flabbergasted.

Waved to a guy in a white Turbo (or maybe an S2, can't tell). He waved back too, even though he was on his cell phone.

I wouldn't pi$$ on a Cayenne if it was on fire - they are the worst idea by Porsche ever imaginable - not to say dog ugly!

Not only did I get a wave, but I pulled up next to a GT2 in traffic and he rolled down his window and chatted with me until the light changed. He didn't know much about the 944 but he sure was friendly. OTOH, I was in front of a younger guy and his girlfriend (wife) for about a mile on another road and when I changed lanes to turn and he ended up next to me he didn't even look over. Doubt he recognized it. And yes, it was a Boxster.

i always wave to other porsches when i see them, usually never get one back, but that's when i turn my head and cry :( but 90% of the time i'll get a response from another 944.

It it wasn't for these "worst" ideas, porsche might not be been around anymore. There were NUMEROUS times when porsche was near bankruptcy. Lots of cayennes are sold which means a lot of profit for porsche. Profit today = better cars tomorrow. Unfortunate how people fail to see the big picture...

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. And this just leaves one more Cayenne out there for me to own.

After driving one (twice) I could not think of a better all around daily driver for the wilds of Idaho. That is why I will be looking to purchase one come spring. While I do think they could have done better with the looks on the outside, the interior is splendid. And the handling........ I will, for giggles, auto-x it once. My dumbassed luck, it would beat the times of my 944 and 914.

Cayenne driver probably used to own a 944

You know early 944's are 'gateway' Porsches. ;)

I am just waiting for boxters to get cheap enough to afford. With as many of them out there.....warranties expire....owner can't work on them....parts and service are expensive.......

Hey...maybe I should pick up a set of boxter manuals now!

Exactly. If a Cayenne or any other SUV driver tried to wave to me I'd flip 'em at LEAST a finger, if not chuck 'em a moon. It's tough to moon & shift at the same time in the 944 though. . .
