I will pay someone to help me put my motor in my 944 (MA, NH area)
I was going to tackle this project myself but it has become necessairy for me to get the car on the road as soon as possible, being how the only experience I have with porsche is getting the old motor out I need some help getting it back in and all set up to go on the road.. I have an 86 944 and going in it is a 944 motor out of an 88... its a direct change so anyone that knows what they are doing please let me know and I'm sure we can work something out... thanks for all your help. I am in Middleton MA.

Bring it to me and I'll finish the job for you...

If you help, the price is double...

EricMcIntire 10-03-2004 11:50 AM

how much would it cost? It would cost more for me to help?? haha that doesn't say much for your confidence in rookies

944 Ecology 10-03-2004 12:08 PM

Figure 15 hours to finish the job you started. It would probably take three hours extra just to make sure that you have everything that you need.

The problem with rookies is the amount of time you spend explaining things. Much quicker without the effort expended to lose your concentration while talking.

EricMcIntire 10-03-2004 01:08 PM

how much?
how much do you charge per hour?

944 Ecology 10-03-2004 01:25 PM

$60 per hour.

too rich for me... sorry, I was kinda hoping a local enthusiast would be able to give me a hand, I dont have that kind of money right now, but I will remember just incase I get the money together somehow

Try posting this over at Rennlist; there are a few more active members in our area.
I wish I could help you out, but I don't have the expertise to.

If and when something comes together, could you let me know / would you mind me coming up?
I can give plenty of brute strength, just not too much brains (on this issue).

Here's rennlist's site: (tricky, eh?)

EricMcIntire 10-03-2004 04:46 PM

yea I'll let you know, could definately use the extra hands I'm sure... I'll try rennlist, thanks for the info.

EricMcIntire 10-04-2004 01:39 PM

I can't believe there's no one in the area that can give me a hand.... I'm pretty technically able but I'm not farmiliar with the 944.... all I need to do is replace the arm in the front, make sure I did the bellhousing right, and get a hand getting the motor in the car.... Incase seeing what we are working with I've included pics.... this is a cry for help, someone please help me get my 944 on the road!

serge944 10-04-2004 01:55 PM

I know people who would help you for a six pack of beer. Do check rennlist.

EricMcIntire 10-04-2004 04:08 PM

I posted on rennlist and haven't heard anything yet.. I'd like to have it 100% by december, as I want to drive it out to LA...

Clowd 10-04-2004 04:11 PM

Well I don't have much(any) knowledge on the subject, but if you feed me I'll be happy to come down and lend any hand I can.

EricMcIntire 10-04-2004 04:13 PM

Eric, I would offer to help out if you were a bit closer. I'm down in SE MA. I do have an engine hoist you could borrow but it is a longish drive for a tool pick-up.

EricMcIntire 10-05-2004 11:52 AM

thanks I appreciate it, I'll keep it in mind. I think something may happen this long weekend with it.
