944 tranny swap??

My daughter put her '85 into a ditch and tore some things up.So am looking at a parts car that needs a tranny. It's an 85 1/2.Her's is an automatic (for a 18 yr old girl), the parts car is a 5 speed, said there's some issues with the transaxel. Can you swap her automatic into the parts car? It's in great shape except for the tranny.
appreciate any help. Please email me at cooperokiehomie@cs.com

I've heard of a few people putting a 5-speed into a car that originally had an automatic, but I don't know of anyone that's gone the other way. Anything is possible with enough time and money, but I think best solution would be to get a used 5-speed transaxle (you can find one for a reasonable price if you look around) to put into the parts car and teach your daugther to drive the 5-speed

Im with todd, sooner or later your daughter is gonna need to know how do drive a 5 speed so why not start now, Plus with the 5 speed its less that can go wrong with the car.

My daughter is already eyeing the 944. When she turns 15, I'll teach her to drive it. I think it is important to learn on a manual and build some skills using both feet
