Speed / Reference Sensor Are These The Same?

Hey Guys,

This might sound like a really dumb question. I need to replace my speed sensor. The question is is the speed and reference sensor the same part number. I called the dealership and they gave me this part number 944-6061-1500. I'm not sure if this is the right number or not. I look on here using the number, but needless to say I didn't want to buy it without seeing what I'm buying. Can anyone help me find this part? Or the right part number?

I believe the part #s are the same. when i bought my ref and speed sensor for my 83, there was no diff and the part #s were the same.

same #'s, same sensor. they interchange. Don't ask me how I know, let's just say I've tried a lot of sensors

Yep - they are one and the same.

Thanks guys. I thought they were the same, but had to make sure. I also found the OEM part number for the speed sensor it's 944-6061-1500. It runs 118.00 new through here. Through the dealer it's 225.00.

I won't vouch for anyone's used parts, but I'm using a used speed sensor that I picked up during my clutch job. It is an unregretted purchase, as it has performed flawlessly. Possibly todwic could provide more wisdom on the subject of buying used, as my experience with those sensors is more limited than his.

I'm in love with used sensors. When I was having bracket adjustment problems, I wasn't about to plunk down $90 on a new sensor that was destined to be ^&@%$^%@$&ed up. I don't think the cracked plastic insulation that invariably haunts the old sensors matters, because there's foil/wire insulation around the business wire.
