Question 944 Stereo Power Connections

Hey there everyone, i love this forum, lots of very useful info. I have a 1987 944 and when i bought it, it came without the stereo system. It was pretty obvious the previous owner had an amplified system in it and his wiring was all messy. I plan to channel new wire to the speakers so all i need is to find the ignition, illumination, constant power, ground, antennae, etc. to power the deck. I know this connector is the right one, so can anyone tell me which wire/color is for what? Thanks a lot...(i apologize if im being an annoying newb)

I have the Crutchfield wireharness diagram at home...but im at school right now . I do have the factory diagrams however.

Starting from left to right....

Ground Connection Plug
Ignition Lock Term. R Plug
Lights
Antenna Amplifier (Automatic Antenna)
Permanent Positive Term. 30. Plug
Alarm Contact CD-Player

I installed an Alpine headunit last saturday...from what i remember the Ignition Lock Term. R Plug is for the switched powersource, lights control the dimmer function on the face (if your headunit supports that) and the Permanent Positive Term. 30 Plug is for constant power so your stations and presets are saved.

hey thanks techno, now in the picture, i have 2 brown wires, and 2 red and black striped wires going to the same connection, does it matter which one i use for ground and antennae amplifier? also, from your description, it looks like i don't have the alarm contact, right?

Hrm, not sure which you want to use as the contact. I would say splice both wires, but dont quote me on that.I used a wire harness which connected everything up nicley to the that stock adapter. I dont think mine had the alarm contact either, so nothing to worry about.
