dear all

i have a 86 924s

on cold mornings the power steering makes a slight grinding noise. once the engine has warmed this goes. i have checked the reservoir and it has enough fluid but there are lots of tiny bubbles.

any ideas, hellp is much appreciated.

Could it be you have air in the system? Your rack could have a tiny leak and be letting in air...

Check the belt too. Mine slips when the car is cold (which squeaks). It is quite common for the steering to make a noise when turning whilst not moving or moving slow. Especially when cold.

sprincey,
sounds also like the system needs bleeding.

this is the procedure for the 44, but should work equally well for you.

1> with cap off
2> switch engine on and as it catches, switch it off. do this again
3> with engine running, turn gently from lock to lock, at least 5 times. DO NOT apply to much force on the end of each lock.

also try changing the fluid.

and check for leaks
