I need to know the order of placing the shims and rings for the clutch throwout bearing. Neither Hayness, Clark’s Garage, nor FSM address this issue. When I removed the old one, I found FEWER rings than came in my kit from Pelican, i.e. 1 shim ring vs. three.
Here is the order on the OLD clutch, listed from the rear of the car, towards the front: throwout bearing toothed ring teeth of the pressure plate shim-like ring thick ring snap ring My kit came with 3 shim rings, not just one, hence my confusion. To mate the components nicely, I would put them in the following order: Throwout bearing 1st shim ring Toothed ring (with the teeth pointing to the front of the car) 2nd shim ring teeth of the pressure plate 3rd shim ring thick ring snap ring I would appreciate comments on this issue. Does the presence of the rings affect the point (in terms of depressing the clutch pedal) when the clutch disingages?

Put the shim rings all together. Start with 3, and, if you can't install the snap ring, remove one, then try again.
The purpose of the shim rings is to remove play between the TO bearing and the pressure plate. gb
