Project Red blaze has started

Hey guys, This weekend I finally got started on Project red blaze. My 87 924S is in my garage up on jack stands, The hood is off, wheels are off, Intake is off and fluids are drained, fule rail is off. I can only really work on her 2 times a week so its gonna be slow but hey it gives me more time to save money. I already have a front reseal kit and my nitrous kit. I will be sending my injectors out to RC to get cleaned and balanced and a flow chart printed. Also I will be buying A larger throttle body and a AC delete kit soon. I havent started to much on the body or interior yet, God I love these cars. Anyway I will be posting pics and keeping you guys up to date as much as possable.

MORE TO COME!SmileWavy

w00t for another 944 project. As soon as winter hits, my car is going away and I'm starting on Project MV OVER, which I am going to (attempt) to detail on my website.

I'm so excited...

Update- During tonights work I have found some problems with my ride that need to be fixed.

1. Oil filler is leaking (replace upper and lower o-rings)

2. During closer inspection of the intake/throttle body I have noticed that the PCV is letting my engine suck in some nasty stuff at high RPM's. I am considering installing a oil catch can to get rid of this problem.

3. #3 intake valve is pitted on the back side?? Im not sure why!?!? It doesnt look like its a big problem and its not causing any compression loss but right after the valve stem connects to the valve head there is some light pitting, Any ideas why????

4. I think this was noticed in another post, but my Jacobs electronics ingition wires are rusted!!!!! So is my distributer connections for the spark plug wires. Loooks like I will be replacing wires and Distributor cap/rotor

I cant wait to see what else is wrong  :D

P.S 952 right now I have a used zex dry nitrous kit that came off of my tacoma that was running a 75hp shot, The kit hooks into the FUel pressure regulator to boost fuel pressure when the nitrous is used. Im thinking about going and getting the wet conversion because I dont think it will supply enought fuel on the P-car. Im looking at a 50-75hp shot on the 924Shttp://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/king.gif

bump

DannoXYZ 11-08-2004 11:36 PM

Doing any internal engine mods? Shaving the head about 0.040-0.050" really helps the throttle-response. All the 944-spec guys out here are milling 0.080" at angle to clear the valve-seats. Total-Seal rings work really well to give you 0% leakdown. Simple mods for less than $300.

On the more expensive side, I've seen 13.0:1 compression pistons on a 3.0L block mated to a 2-valve head. Required 100-octane race gas, but you can get away with 12.0:1 with 91-oct. pump gas. Anyway, this car got 225rwhp! That's a solid 100hp bump over the normal 2.5L NA engine. Was faster than S2s, 968s and Turbos as well. Somewhere in between a Turbo and TurboS in speed. :)

I wont be touching the rings or pistons, I did all the bearings and rings when I did the first rebuild about 6 years ago and they all sem fine at the moment, I might pull the head and shave it and get some head work done but Im not sure yet

IF I ever get some money in the bank...
I would like go with the 944RS idea that was kicked around this board a little while ago. i.e. strip the car down to be as light as possable with a few performance modifications. You mentioned A/C delete... I know the folks over at rennlist did a group buy but I forget who made the bracket of if they are still available. Do you know where your going to get an A/C delete bracket?

TIA

Scott, I got my AC delete off Broadfoot racing. Its a very good piece anodised in gold. Cheaper than the stock part too. Checkout www.broadfootracing.com ask for Kelli. They shiiped my stuff to New Zealand in quick time and have excellent communication with them.
