Sun roof question
My 85 N/A 944 has no sun roof in it, as in the P.O. took it out and did not replace it. I have a couple that I can get, but did Porsche sell the 944 with a manual sun roof or are they all electric. Also, does a 924 sun roof fit in a 85 944?

Do you mean you're missing the manel, or he welded a steel panel in place of it, or is there a hole in the roof all the time, what?
Also, if you had a sunroof, you'd have the lifting arms at the back of the sunroof hole. They did offer a manual roof, and a lot of people switch the power roof over to a manual roof simply because the auto roof is real hard to keep adjusted and working.

The PO pulled the sunroof out and replaced it with nothing. I guess this has a manual sunroof, since I see no arms. The two roofs I can get are electric and 924's. I guess I'll just try it!

yeah - I'm not sure about the fit. The manual arms would have a little retracting mechanism and you'd see something like a black box with 2 levers that can retract into the panel behind the sunroof. The arms would push forward and up when the sunroof is in place. There is plastic trim (a box) around the arms, so they won't just be hanging out there. The manual roof just pretty much just clips onto a metal lip up there.

It could be that it's a saratoga and he put the solid top in... ? I can take pics of what mine looks like with the solid roof in and you can compare if you want.

The picture would be great. I do remember him saying something about a glass (saratoga) top.

So, if I missed the answer to this question, I apologize........
Is there a gaping hole in your car where the sunroof panel used to be, so that there is rain/wind/birdpoop falling into your interior? Or do you mean that the previous owner removed the stock sunroof panel and replaced it with something else? If you need the solid, stock sunroof panel, those are readily available at most dismantlers.

And yes, I believe any manual roof will fit any manual car. Even the 924's.
Your PO probably sold the Saratoga roof (clear panel) when he found out it was worth as much as the entire car.
