924s specs
Does anyone know actual 1988 924S specs like 0-60mph, horsepower/torque, compression ratio, etc? They have eluded me so far.

The Porsche 924S has the 944 drive train in 924 body, lighter, more aerodynamic and faster than the regular 944. The 88 models had a "sport" option available.
In North America, the engine was identical to the 944, a 2.5l 147HP unit that should have been in the 924 from the beginning. Straight-line speed was actually faster than the 944 due to a lower fifth gear and reduced drag. Contemporary magazine reports rated it similar to the 944S (188HP) of the same year. Initial 924S' in the rest-of-the-world (RoW) received a 150HP (DIN) motor, noticeably weaker than the 163HP DIN 944 motor. In 1988, sanity prevailed and the better motor appeared in the 924S, and the US cars were uprated to 160 HP. This makes 1988 models slightly more preferable to the other years. hope this helps Ade

Did you guys time those runs? I'm looking at the factory technical manuals and they are saying in the 8 second range. I've heard the factory is pretty conserative, but 2 seconds is quite a bit.
Although...I've got on it pretty hard up through the end of third, and it sure doesn't feel like 8.3 seconds to 60.

The 924S was virtually identical to the early (1982-1985.5) 944 in every way except the body panels.
0-60 - 7.8 sec top speed - 137 mph I believe the gearing in the 924S is the exact same (except 5th?) as the 944NA, so in 4th gear 2000 would be about 35mph, 3000 would be 60ish, and 4000 would be about 85.
