would that bushing cause th shifter not to work ??? at all . i moves but not enough travel to engage the gears also what is used on the trans side of the shift rod

shifter is not working at all is there anything else that could be worn or loose or should i say that is common to other 944 besides the pin and rod on the shifter side

On the transmission itself, check and see if the rod has slipped out of its' coupling. There is a bolt that is suppose to hold it in. It will be on the drivers side of the car. You see the rod coming out of the torque tube, follow it till it ends. Check and make sure that it is in tight.
