944S Headers

I did some searches, I couldn't find the answers to my questions...

Will 944NA headers fit a 944S? Are the stock headers between the two models exactly the same? Will a Bursch or MSDS header that says it is for a regular 944 also fit a 944S?

I don't think there's any difference between the two.

I have removed them from a couple of parts cars I have- An NA and an S. Next time I go out to my "chop shop" I'll take a closer look.

Thanks!

Some sites list their headers as being for just NAs, some for all 944s (including Turbos), some specifically exclude S and S2--but include 968s.

I would think that all NAs would be the same. S's, S2's, and 968s should also be the same. I think it would be possible for 8V and 16V models to share headers, but I would expect all Turbos to not be able to use any headers designed for naturally aspirated engines.

They are different. The S header has 3 bolts per pipe and the 8v cars have 2 bolts per pipe.

Yeah. What HE said.

I looked at them this morning, and they are different.

Does anyone make aftermarket headers for the S? I assume the stock headers are at least the same as the S2.

The headers that the S, came stock with, are hard to beat for performance. Jim Pasha, one of the tech editiors for Excellence mag, and 944 geru, once told me, that the best header for performance on the 8v cars, are the factory still tube headers. I have sourced these for 3 of my cars, and I think he is right......
