Anyone have a clutch alignment tool they dont need?
Im going to be doing an auto to manual swap, and im going to need a clutch alignment tool for when i install the clutch... if you have it, you know what im talking about. Anyone if you have an extra one lying around or have one you dont need, let me know, ill give you a small fee if you so desire for the trouble.

I used the clutch alignment tool from my Chevy S-10 clutch. It was made of plastic. I took the plastic tool and pushed it into the 944 clutch spline. I then pulled it back out and repeated this a couple of times so the 944 clutch cut the new spline pattern into the tool. So now I have a tool for both the S-10 and the 944. It worked fine for when I installed the 944 clutch. I could lend it to you for the price of shipping back and forth. Let me know.

meh i didnt realize they were so readily available online. Ill jsut go ahead and buy one, it will cost about the same as shipping it anyway :) Thanks though

Same one as a Ford Ranger from around 1990, Autozone has it for $2.

There is a reason 944 series owners are cast as the cheapest SOBs on the face of the planet. A 2 buck tool and looking for a deal. :roflmao:
As Sam said, the Ford one works fine. I got done using one on my clutch job on Saturday. Alignment worked just fine and the drive shaft went through the pilot bearing perfect. Took less than 30 seconds to clear the disc splines and slide it and the torque tube home. I don't know if I would use a beat up or jury rigged alignment tool because having the disc and pilot bearing off means you have to recenter the disc and all the related work that entails. It would be crazy not to just spend 2 bucks everytime you do it to buy a new tool. |
