back glass stuck

got a 1988 944 and the back glass is stuck when I try to open it I can only get the left side to release and the right side won't budge it had new holddown pins installed by PO , is it possible to get at the release mech from inside? thanks Rob

yes. if you're working from inside the hatch, dead center back of hatch behind the carpeting is the locking mechanism that engages the rods which pull the plastic levers which release the pins.

well, i did that, and mine were still stuck. had to remove the pin recievers and clean the hell out of them. they should have plastic covers with tubing (for rainwater) attached to the bottom. each has 2 bolts, with (I believe) a 10mm nut.

I've read a bunch of threads about aligning the pins. I had to actually align the recievers a bit to get a good close and an easy open.

This may be a stupid question but have you tried to push down on the hatch as you turned to key to open it?

yes tried it all just about ripped off the spoiler in the process ,..,. pushed down pulled up side ways and everything else but it won't come up />?? bad latch bad latch ARGGG ..,, thanks Rob
