Wow Check Out This 944

Hey, while I was lerking on rennlist I found this

http://www.kogelman.nu/944.html

This guys must have dumped alot of money like 15,000 or more in his NA 944, Not my taste but still is cool

bryanthompson 12-15-2004 08:27 PM

Wow, look at the other cars in the shop, nice!

I don't know, it's not my style, but it looks well done. better than some half-assed rice kit. I don't think it costed him that much though... Since they did it themselves, i don't think it costed anything over $1k. Welding up the tail lights, fiberglassing the nose, shaved handles... not too difficult.

here is just another reason I decided against contributing to the continuation of our species

and where is a catastrophic collision with an asteroid when you need one?

damn...I knocked over my glass !

livewirevoodoo 12-15-2004 09:15 PM

The best picture was the first one. That was a nice 944.

With all the time he spent on the body work, you would think that he would have cleaned up the motor a little bit. My motor looks better with 165K miles on it. To each their own I suppose

The Chris 12-16-2004 08:36 AM

IMHO: tons of work, you have to respect that, but, the headlights are too small, the taillights are too small, and the car just looks like an abandoned 70's concept car.

I don't know if this makes any sense, but there's too much body! =) I like how tails, headlights, etc, break up the body lines.

I think what they did with the rear hatch looks cool, but it had to have turned the 944's excellent rear visibility to crap.

TCMdocs944 12-16-2004 12:41 PM

Saw this on Renn too.

Love the skill and creativity.

Don't like the color....everyone has an opinion.

I like my conceiled headlamps. I think they are coming back in style.

fast924S 12-16-2004 12:45 PM

The Cris- I agree The is way to much body it needs something to break it up.

As for the engine what I understand is that he will be dropping a modded 968 motor in with direct port nitrous

944 Pylot 12-16-2004 04:08 PM

That's the only headlight conversion I've ever seen that I like.

operationcougar 12-16-2004 10:37 PM

uhhh, yeah, that looks goofy... but uhh... figuritively speeking, if one... ohhh i dont know wanted to know where they might... perhaps find that rear hatch, im mean hypotheticly how would I... I mean uhhh they do such

operationcougar 12-17-2004 12:25 AM

thats just not nice

CJFusco 12-17-2004 07:35 AM

I respect the craftsmanship, but I can't say I like it

scottmandue 12-17-2004 07:42 AM

In that shot, there is a yellow 'spray can looking thing'. It is in many of the different shots from painting to cleaning.

Wonder what is in there? Is that what makes the cookies so good?

operationcougar 12-17-2004 12:15 PM

yellow spray can is just a refillable spray can, it can be filled with just about any fluid and charged with a compressor, very common in large shops

Gordon Rankin 12-18-2004 10:35 AM

Looks like an old corvair rear end with a 300 zx nose.. YUK!

arnebret 12-18-2004 02:38 PM

Again, a Dutch project on this site. It's really getting dutchy in here, innit? ;) Well, and again i have to say... what the HELL are they thinking off? I mean, it's well made, but it's just so ugly and out of proportion... please leave the car building to our neighbours over in Germany and let's just keep making cheese over here or something.

Moneyguy1 12-18-2004 09:02 PM

1. WHy did he not think of different mirrors; like tose in a Passat come to mind and fill the holes where the mirrors were mounted?

2. Why stick with the anemic motor? Really, spending that much time and money, something creative could have been done under the hood.

3. Impressive amount of work!!

Hey Gordie..What was wrong with the Corvair (type 2) styling? Just kidding..but it was the forerunner of the Camaro and the Firebird. I think the taillights look like a 60s era Impala
