Need Help with OPRV Alignment Tool
Getting ready to dive in and do a belt job and fix my oil leak.
I've heard that there are 2 different alignment tools (9262/1 & 9215) for the 86 944 NA depending on the when the car was built. One has threads, and one does not? How do I know which one I need? my model year is 1986 and the mfg date is 8/85. Also, if anyone happened to have any diminsions on these tools that you could send me, I could make it myself and save a few $$. Thanks |
Uhmmmm didnt even know there was threaded version.....
On my 86's I used the actual OPRV to align the housing. I hand tighten the 4 bolts holding the housing, insert the oprv making sure it slides in and out..........and then torque the 4 housing bolts. And you are done. |
If you have the later screw in type valve (the one piece valve) you need the later tool - if you have the older style, you use the old tool.

This is exactly what I did. This, of course, was after blowing $35 on that one-off tool that was never used anyways. Don't buy the tool and get a case of good German beer instead. |
