Low Idle when cold

I have a 84 N/A 944 and it idles rough when cold so I've done some reading in the other posts on the same topic and I find that I probobly need to cleen the AAV and/or check for vacume leaks. While checking for leaks I realized that if I pull out the small vacume line to the Fuel Pressure regulator and Damper there is no change in how the car runs. But I remember reading somewhere that if the Fuel Pressure regulator and damper lines are removed the car should stall. Is that true? or do all 944's run the same when the vacume line is unplugged? and if not is this related to my low idle problem?

mine was unplugged by PO when i first bought it. cant remember if it was the regulator or dampner... i believe the latter. I wouldn't stall, but in reverse w/o giving the car gas it felt like it would stall any moment. I believe it did help a bit with fuel efficiency after it was reconnected.

Yeah thats what I noticed when I drove the car with the line disconected, less power. Id like to know if any other of you guys experince no change in idle when you pull out the small vacume line to the Fuel Pressure regulator.
