Big end bearing
Hi,
I am getting a knocking noise from my engine and I'm dreading it being the big end. What is the difficulty in sorting this out? Do I have to take the engine out? What damage could I be doing? Regards Misty

Unfortunately, you really cant tell without doing a teardown. You can isolate the noise to the general area using a sthetoscope, but thats about it. But most knocks are from a rod or main bearing.

I don't think the noise is originating from the top end, it seems to be coming from further down. It is only noticable at low revs. Is it going to be a big job to remove the sump on a 924? anybody? I've never done this before!
Please help! Misty
