How do you know?

My 944 has an intermittant bout with clicking from the rear end, seemingly from the right rear passenger wheel. Under the car, it sounds like it's coming from the transmission. It's stopped for now. I've searched this board and it could be either the cv joint(s) or something loose in the e-brake. Anyone have an opinion based in fact or supposition?

Not sure what it is, but mine made a similar noise a few weeks ago. I was fortunate enough to be able to have the CV joints repacked at the dealer for $45.

Hopefully it is something minor like that....

My guess would be a CV joint - inner driver's side. They are the first to go.

When I had mine (CV) replaced they would click under acceleration and it would come and go for awhile. When I finally had them replaced they clicked all the time.

Oh yeah, I did have a 944N/A and I had some new tires installed and a few days later I heard clicking....the wheel lugs wasn't tight!

Just a thought
