fitted steering shaft
Had my 944s2 steering shaft fitted on my cab friday and there is a massive difference to the handling - she still tends to follow bumps and uneven surfaces but the feeling of instability and wandering appears to have gone.very pleased.

Many take a worn steering link as bad tie rods or ball joints or a-arm bushings. If you have slop in the steering wheel at a stop then it is the rack, tie rods or steering link. I'd check the steering link first. Use a flash light (torch) and look behind the bake booster housing as someone moves your steering wheel back and forth. You will see the shaft coming out of the car moving but not the rest of the steering link going off to the rack.
