Porsche laying Idle for too long...need help

Hi guys,

I have a Porsche 944 S (16-Valve) which unfortunately has been lying still since the end of October. This wasn't planned but due to illness etc. I am only getting around to the car now. I had a look at my poor neglected car this weekend and I confirmed that the battery is dead. The tyres are still perfect and have retained full pressure.

Before I crank the car again, are there any precautions I should take to prevent any engine damage? The last thing I want to do is start it up only for it to go bang, wallop and then dead as a doornail!!

Any help would be much appreicated,

Regards,

I would change the oil and filter, pull the spark plugs and DME relay, and then crank the engine over until oil pressure is normal.

This will get fresh oil to all of the internal parts without having to worry about any significant mechanical loads/stresses doing any damage.

Then just install the plugs, put the DME relay back and fire her up.
