leaking antifreeze+ electrical gremlins

hello everyone

my car dumped some coolant at Albertson's tonight so I (having no light :( opted to just buy some antifreeze and limp it the (short/5 blocks) back to my dorm.

anyways, made it home ok, didn't even get too high on the temp gauge. I can't really do anything as far as troubleshooting/repair right now b/c it's a starless/moonless night and i see anything under the hood.

for now; i'm just wondering how much antifreeze does my (1983 x44) hold? what would it be leaking from on the drivers side, toward the rear of the engine bay? (I thought the heater core was on the passenger side...but never dealt w/ that)

TIA

BTW, my name is Kyle Figarelle, I currently reside in Bozeman, MT. I'm in the MT Army National Guard. Finally, I've owned my car since November 2000 and love it to death but as a teenager I sadly can't hardly afford it. Since that might worry some of you: I've replaced the clutch, belts, all front seals, shocks, etc..all w/ my own time and money, and the help of my father (who calls it the German Orphan ;) )

Sounds like one of the heater hoses. That's where I would start the search.

IIRC, the cooling system holds around 7 litres, but it may be 8.

Hello Kyle!
I agree with Zero10's asessment, can you tell us more about your car? Year, model, etc?

1983 Porsche 944, beige (i can't remember; Kalahari?) with brown interior. 5 speed. Updated waterpump and clutch. New belts and ALL front seals about 3k miles ago. Koni Yellows and 250lb springs at that same time. Stock, sway bars, was about to order 30mm hollow front and 19mm adjustable rear......ten seconds later I saw the bill for one semester of college . 15X7 CCs: was looking at some 16x8/9 Fuchs, but, again, no money.

my pass. side window only goes down w/ the switch on the drivers side. and my driver's side won't go down at all. I've placed that switch in all 3 places and it only works from that one so I know it's wiring but I can't pinpoint it. my power mirrors don't work either. my odometer seems to be broken in hot weather, but it works just fine in cold weather...wierdest thing ever, just haven't gotten around to taking the gages out and seeing what's up.

my biggest problem is that my car is on a campus parking lot and i basically have no tools. Considering I'm in MT my biggest fear is that it'll get really cold and my car will be void of antifreeze and I will have a giant frozen paperwieght for an engine

I'll try clark'sgarage and look for that heater control valve as I have no idea what it looks like. Once again, my biggest problem is lack of equipment and unpredictable MT weather.

Any suggestions on how to get under the car to start working. That scissor jack is plain frightening. Now that it's day time again I'll ask friends if they have jacks/stands/tools.

No way! You're in great falls...
I'm making a trip there next weekend!
We should get together!
