I am putting 928s4 brakes on the front of my 1987 951. Can I put the front calipers on the rear to upgrade the size?

if you can put them on the front, why would you not be able to put them on the rear ?
I'd be interested to know as well . BTW what made you go for that, and how did you know they would work/fit ?

928S4 brakes fit and work just fine on the 951 cars, they are a nice upgrade over the stock front calipers and will still fit under all late offset 16" wheels. To fit them on the front, you would need adapter blocks or 951TS (or M030) spindles, as well as the 951TS rotors.
There is no need to move the fronts to the rear, the car will be over-braked in the rear if you do that. Turn around and roll the stock front calipers and rotors over for a little cash recovery on your project.

The brakes are not a 50/50 balance, if that is what you mean, to start with. They are biased toward the front.
The fronts do most of the work anyway due to weight/load transfer issues under braking. You don't want larger calipers in the rear, unless you like locking them up and/or seeing the tail swing round. One could change the porportioning valve to make up for the issue, but then why put the larger brakes on the rear to start with? If you are referring to the actual weight balance of the car, yes, the S4 calipers, rotors, and spindles would be slightly heavier than the stock 951 bits, but I doubt enough to equal even a percentage point change on front verses rear weight.

I see what you mean and yes I ment the weight balance.
Of course I can see from your explation wy you need more work at the front than the rear.

Thanks for the advice. I think I will stay with the stock rears and sell the rotor and calipers to offset the cost.
