All 944 Turbo models have alu trailing arms.
The alu arm was introduced for the 1985/2 (late dash) 944. It was changed slightly in designed for the 1987 model year due to ABS and continued until the end of 968 production in 1995. All 924S models also have the alu arm.

Does the difference between the '86 Turbo trailing arms and '87 and later trailing arms change what drive shafts you can use?

According to our suppliers, 944 332 038 01 will fit 86-91 MY or the later typpe 951 332 038 02 will fit from 87 on. The difference I believe is the later part uses different CV joints where the early cars used CVs off VW models. Depends on what you are trying to do.

Are the axle lengths, and transmission drive flange size (bolt pattern) the same between the two part numbers?
