What is your best quarter mile time?

What is your best quarter mile time?

Porsche 944 model 1983.
Normally aspirated.
On normal 97 octane petrol.
Best quarter mile time 14.63 seconds.
On 15 inch wheels Cookie Cutter.
My every day wheels are Porsche Carrera S4
18 inch mags.
The times are slower with the 18 inch mag wheels.
Best Regards,

Do you have a time slip to back that up?

That would be one the quickest 1/4 mile times I have ever seen on a stock NA 944.

After doing a burnout, I was able to clock a low 8 second quarter mile at over a 100 mph. It was a thrill to say the least.

Oh wait.... that was only a dream.

12.7@117mph. 2.5L, lots of mods, 103 octane, 25psi. Took it really easy in 1st and 2nd because of how fragile our cars are. That and traction problems.

12.9@112mph, 2.8L, even more mods, 94 octane, 15psi. Took it really easy in 1st and 2nd again, but a LOT more low end torque with the 2.8L!

Both ran with 18x10" wheels and 265 street tires.

What about with the FR- Wilk chip, he told me it would take a sec off 0-60 so that would put it into the low 15's even high 14's, by the way any news on him?

You must be misquoting FR, even 50 extra hp wouldn't shave a full second off your 0-60 time.

Hmm.. My drag calculator shows a 3000 lb car with 150 hp running at 86.2 mph in the quarter. If you could get a perfect launch you should lay down a scorching 15.8 second 1/4 mile...

Blackfoot, check out the Thread: 0-60 with Wilk's chip?, in FR's post on August 11, 2004 he claimed the slowest reported saw 0-60 .6-.7 sec faster than stock, and typical numbers were .8-1 sec faster.

Raising the rev limit might eliminate a shift, and the accounts I've read indicate that improved acceleration is significant. An across the board increase in torque would help acceleration more than an added 50hp at the top too, so maybe those claims aren't so far out.

Like Taz said, the only reason the acceleation is cut down so much on Wilk's chip is that it allows you to hit 60mph in 2nd without needing to shift. Im curious to see how much of a difference the chip would make in a 1/4 mile run.

I have read the best way to launch our cars is to rev to 4k and feather the clutch out. Obviously terrible on the clutch and drivetrain, but you gotta pay to play.

And if his claims are true, it makes the 944 n/a into a whole different car, everyone should have the chip. It would be silly and foolish not to, a true no-brainer to be without.
