Engine's done, now for some wires....
hey guys, i'm really anxious to start the engine tomorrow, but there's a couple wires i need to find a place to connect them to:)
first, i have three wires going to three prongs on my thermo fan switch, does it matter what order i attach them? If so, what's the order? and last (i think) where do these go?, yah i know i'll clean them up, but last i remember, they went to the lower area of the engine...... :D http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1108368489.jpg again, thanks everyone!!! everyone's been great, lot's of wisdom goin around......... |
It looks like the two left ones are oil pressure and the right one is the low oil level light. The solid blue goes to the WK on the sender and the blue with white stripe goes to the G on the sender. The low oil level should be white / yellow stripe.
|
Yes that is what it is, One (yellow one) does to the oil level sensor, the other (blue ones) go to the oil pressure sender, both ar located on the lower p/s of the engine, the oil pressure sender is near the oil filter
|
alright, found them, and connected them, thanks guys:D

The three wires going to the thermo switch on the radiator should have been part of a plastic connector.
The wires going to the oil pressure switch are color coded. There is a bluish green dot of paint beside one of the terminals that matches the corresponding wire. If you don't hook them up correctly your oil pressure will go to full with the key on and zero when running., |
thanks for the fast reply guys, but my wires going to the thermo switch apparently is missing the case, so the wires were just hanging, so i don't know if i put them in their correct place.......
|
Looked into the parts lists and the factory schematics and you should have a two pin thermo switch on the radiator.
The three pin is for post 85 cars with the exception of the 924S. Now the question is why do you have three wires? Well I bet that two of them are brown. These go together on one pin. Then there is the possibility that some one put the later switch in and rigged up something not stock. |
You shouldn't be running the engine with out proper oil pressure and a working cooling system.
|
no, i should have the three pin on the thermo switch, my car is a 1987 944.......the wires are brown, brown with yellow stripe, and red with white stripe.........so how should they be connected?

My mistake. Had another thread in my head.
Here is the diagram: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1108508702.jpg |

I have the same wire location question for the first picture. Got the car in pieces and can't find were that yellow shiethed wire goes? Looked all over the oil area. Supposedly it's the "oil level sender". Were the heck does it go? Also the Haynes manual refers to a seal on the center threaded piece the oil filter screw to. There wasn't one when I took the oil filter off. Is this needed??
