Rebuilt engine is alive!!! Now some follow up questions...
 

Hey guys, everyone's been real helpful through this crazy experience....again, thanks for sharing all the wisdom;)

Now, when i first started the engine, there was loud clicking....we then narrowed that down to the valve lifters....so i ran the engine for about 30 minutes, and loud clicking went away....

While running the engine, lots of black smoke came from the exhaust, then followed by white smoke, and then it was clean.....the day before, i put a little more than 2 gallons of coolant, following clarks garage info...... now i probably didn't vent it right cuz while running the engine, i noticed some bubbles popping up in the reservoir while the coolant was being circulated....

anyways, i turned off the engine to check oil and coolant levels when the engine cooled down.......i'ts been about 6 hours since i did this and the oil is fine, but there's no more coolant in the reservoir!!! where did it go?

also on the side, even though i didn't install the power steering belt yet, can i still drive the car around? and i plan on leaving the belt covers off for a little bit to make sure tension is good.....is it safe to do that?

oh and one more thing, the idle was staying at 2k rpms, when i pushed on the throttle cam and held it i could bring the rpms to 1k, can i adjust the cable, or should i look for something else?

most likely there was air still in the system. Refill, bleed and check for leaks.

sounds good, now what about my idle speed?

Throttle cable should have a bit of slack. It's not used to adjust the idle. Idle control is the job of the DME and the idle bypass/positioner valve.

To set the basic idle you have to short out the test plug terminals B to C then adjust the bleed screw on the throttle body. Note that there is an o-ring around this large diameter screw. It should be in good shape. Your idle can also be high because of a vacuum leak between the throttle body and the intake ports on the head.
