Danno is your chip programmed to deal with the fuel cut shudder problem? Also how emissions friendly is it or do you have an on and off jumper like the wilks?

Danno
I'm pretty sure you can't just add xHP + yHP to equal zHP.

I haven't toyed with the idea of making an '83-85 chip/daughterboard combo yet, so I'm not sure about that. The '85.5+ DME has the shudder issue resolved, so I don't even have to worry about it. The idle and partial-throttle fuel & ignition is stock, so emissions should be identical to a stock are. The areas that are improved are the high-load/WOT areas where blueprinting and other mods improve air-flow. Thus the chips are tuned to take advantage of that. The only switch is the built-in FQS switch, which is used to make fuel-adjustments and advance the ignition for race-gas.

"I'm pretty sure you can't just add xHP + yHP to equal zHP"

True, that was just the way Paul added it up. He said he got 2.5hp right off the bat. Then adding the FR Wilk gave him 2hp more. Then my chip was +3 on top of that. I can't claim 7.5hp, but 5hp is more realistic.

Some other people have said their dyno-testing showed a +14hp before & after chip-uprade, I'm still waiting for hte dyno-charts on that.

Another guy gave me dyno-comparisons of 107rwhp before & 123rhp after installation of an aftermarket EFI system. Since 107rwhp is well below the average 944-spec car, I would assume that it's got more than its normal share of wear and tear. But can the entire 26hp increase be attributed to the EFI system? Afterall, it's still lower than a well-built Spec car with stock Motronics.

Danno, what would it take for you to consider making the chip/daughterboard combo for the early cars? With Wilk MIA there are quite a few people here that are itching to get a good chip. I personally would like to help out a smaller company with which I have better relations with than some large entitie that I'm just a number to. I just looked on your site briefly and didn't see anything about NA chips, did I miss it? What kind of pricing are we talking for NA chips?

Fixed. Thanks. :)

hmmm, the idle and partial throttle fuel and ignition is stock. this tells me that your chip does nothing for the low end of the n/a. and basically, only works at higher rpm. the main problem with the early n/a cars, is lack of torque (as well as hp), but its torque that really matters, to get your car moving/accelleraton. the FR WILK chip, certainly does this. it really improves the low end of the car, and thats of much more importance, in overall performance, than a chip that just effects performance, at higher rpms.
i have read posts, concerning your chips for the turbo, and you seem to have great success with them, but to my thinking, if the only advantage of your chip, is a little gain over a limited rev range, then it falls way short of the performance of the WILK chip. the chip i have fitted, allows the engine to pull strongly from under 1800rpm, all the way to the redline, not have to wait until 3.5k.
i cant provide you with dyno sheets, as i'm way too busy driving, and enjoying my car, as opposed to reading about it, but what i can do, is, there is a 944 fest coming up, in ohio. i will make my car available, to anyone who wants to drive it, to see for themselves, what the difference is, between stock, and pp. it would be awesome, if someone can come up with a car fitted with your chip {or you could ship one to a possible customer, for "evaluation" purposes!), and then a side by side comparison can be done.
i have the utmost confidance in the chip i have fitted, as it provides improvement over all the rev range, not just the top-end, like your chip suggests, but especially right from low rpm, and the bottom line{no pun intended}, is more available torque, to get you moving.
so, the gauntlet has been thrown down. i will be there. will someone have a car fitted with this alternative chip be there, to take up the challenge?

If FR isn't producing chips anymore, why not just get a eprom burner and make a copy? I wonder is it that simple? Would that be breaking any copyright?

Yea thats what I have been thinking, I am looking into a learning how do burn chips and learning a ton of codes and stuff, With the proper tools it would be really easy to just copy his old PP onto a new chip, All you would need is a chip for all the models he made. I dont know thought I think it might be a copywright or something that will get you in trouble, because if that wasnt the case Wht wouldnt all the big companies copy others chips and ideas and improve them??
