I just re-program it to whatever value I want. Due to the dropping torque-curves on these cars, even with the higher-multiplication in lower gear, you may actually have higher torque at the tyres by going up to next gear. You get less gearing leverage from the higher gear, but you have a lot more torque from the engine to work with.

is there any problem with having a dme with a rev limiter at 7000 and hitting it? like in autocross?
I have been curious about this... as this is my case, trying to figure out if the DME is chipped or if the revlimiter is just changed to 7000... just bought it!

If you asked for a different rev limit when you got the chip then yes it is different. You can hit 7,000 rpm for a sec or so, but I would NOT go riding around holding 7,000rpm. I have no rev limit, and One time I missed 2nd gear and tached out way past redline on the tach, I was like OMG what did I break now, but everything was ok, Agian I would not recommend taching out or riding around at 7,000rpm

the FRwilk chip I bought has a rev limit of 7500 or so. I've been somewhere in that region with no problem... engine sound at 7000+ is intoxicating
