I feel your pain. I've been lusting after one myself. Nothing on ebay. Just the wietmiester and authority chips.

I havent used anything else but the FR-wilk chip, I have heard that JET chips are a big rip off and that all they do is put there sticker on a stock chip, but who knows if thats true. Other then that I havent heard much. Check over at Rennlist or wait a couple of months so I can finish learning HEX coding and pick up some E-prom burners and make some chips.

Hex coding isnt too bad. Wouldnt be my 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th choice to code in, but..... I think i still have a hex coding book from college sitting around my parents.

The whole question is how did porsche implement it into their DME. I'm guessing there arent alot of resources out there other than comparing stock vs. aftermarket chips. Debugging it on a live engine must be a scary experience tho

Was Wilk ever found again? I recall people asking about him, and his site having disappeared.

someone mentioned they were hex coded in your Prom Burner thread, basing it off of that.

lindsey racing

What about lindsey racing? They say their chips add 8-10 rwhp to n/a 944s. And cheap too.

I emailed David Lindsey and he wrote "About 8-10 RWHP and quicker throttle response. "

Will chips from FRWilk or copies of them be available again? I too would like a chip for my S2 but will only consider a Wilk. I hope he comes back and makes chips for us other 944 folks.

"Hex coding is what Bosch used right???"

Hex is just the base-16 numbers used in storing the data on chips. It's the actual code in the program and data maps that count. Paul Bloomberg who races a 944-spec car in AZ test my GURU NA chip vs. FR wilks and the stock chip. He got +2.5 hp by removing the balance shafts, +2hp more by adding the Wilk chip and +5hp with the GURU chips. So the best combo was +7.5HP, but he had to put the balance shafts back on.

If anyone wants to do a comparison between my GURU chip and the Lindsey chip, I'll give you the chip for free in exchange for the dyno-comparison.
