Yes, it's wind resistance. Ok, that was uncalled for. We have a rev limiter at 6700 rpm, you'll never see it in 5th gear. No governor.

nope, just a rev limiter like matt said. I know I am probably going to get flamed for this but I've had a 924 NA, basically a 4 speed version of the 944 tranny, up to 110-115mph before and it was turning about 5000rpm. I think I read that the top rated speed on a 944 is around 130mph.

Doh! I stand corrected by danno, it's 6480 top rpm. I was just guessing. My tach hasn't seen that in years.

Ok, i was just wondering cause some company has a performance chip that they say in the add, "widens torque band, eleminates shutter, and disables speed governer"

There isn't a Porsche out there which has a governer. All of thier cars are drag limited.

Drag/HP limited, We dont have enought HP to push are cars threw the AIR, I Hit 135 down hill. I would think a 924 or 924S would have much drag, but then agian you ever stick your hand out the window at 135, wind is a very powerfull enemy

fast924S,

I don't stick my hand out the window at 135. Telephone poles are as close together as fence posts.

Drew

Yea I dont think its a good Idea and Im not recommending it to anyone, I was On a OPEN Highway late at night with no cars around and I said "Hey lets see what she can do" and some where between the beginning and the end of my speed trip I just put the tips of my fingers out the window and I was like WOW that will rip my arm off

Just picking at you, know where you are coming from. Stick my hand around the window to find the air forcing in at the back, trying to figure good use for it, & outside thinking about areodynamics. Don't have the balls at 135.

You would think all the force from the air out side and nothing much to do with it, even RAM air isnt that effective until about 200mph
