ticking noise

I have recently noticed a sharp but not too loud ticking coming from my engine bay, seemingly from the timing belt area that happens every few seconds. I have looked at the belts with the engine running and cant see anything wrong with them so im wondering if its a roller going bad or something. Any Ideas? Thanks

could be lifter noise....could be injector noise. Could be a bad belt pully....couls be the belt rubbing...lots of things.

youll need to really do some more investgating. My bet would be injector noise or noisy lifters.

Use a long cardboard tube to locate the ticking. One of the plastic tubes that are used for golf club storage works great.

At an idle, 900 rpm, the crank turns over 15 times per second. If it's engine related then the frequency of the sound should be multiples of this.

The belts "rpm" are different. I'll have to measure the belts and the pulleys on the crank and come up with a frequency. Much less than the engine rpm for sure.

When was the last time you changed your timing and balance belts and/or cam chain and tensioner?
