8.5 rear wheels
Does anybody run 17" 8.5W with a 50et on the rear of a late
offset (52) 944? Would these fit without rubbing with 255/40 tires? Thanks.

I've run 255/40 tires on the rear.
I've used 9.5 x 17 Fikses with an early offset, and 8.5 x 17 wheels from a Boxster S on a late offset. Both work fine with no rubbing. |

Thanks for the response. Sounds like most cars will handle that width. I have seen a few threads that some have had rubbing on
one side and had to roll the fender lip. That may have been with 9" on a late offset.

The car really looks great with 255s in the rear, but it is actually more fun to drive with 225s all the way around. The rear just grips too good, inducing understeer. With equal size tires front and rear, the handling is more neutral. Easy to let the tail drift out.
I use 225/50s for racing. The 255s are just for trailering the car around, and a minimal amount of street driving. |

What about turbos's.
Do the wider wheels/tires in the back of them cause understeer?
