totaled???

is it just me or does the damage on this car seem relatively minor?

as far as insurance is concerned. yes. unibody means death to rear panel damage. Can it be fixed. Im sure. If you can fix it your self, go for it. other than that, use it for parts.

About $2,700 at a shop. If you get a back clip from a wrecking yard about $1,000 at a back alley shop.

When was the last time you changed your timing and balance belts and/or cam chain and tensioner?

I could sell you the ass end off of a 924 for $250 shipped in the US and you could repair that car. The whole tailight area and the underbelly including the spare tire well. Weld it in, grind it down, sand it. paint it. Fixed. Hell the car is red that it would be coming from, easy money.

Sell you the mint tailights for it $50 more and ship them free.

Spend the rest of the $1000 on a nice homer mig welder and a 25 piece Cambell-Hausfeild air tool set and a respirator.

Fix it yourself and have tools for the rest of your life.

Most flatbeds won't even take it because no wheels on it. Take a forklift to get it on the bed. Cost double to load and ship w/o wheels.

You have to cut apart the sheet metal for both the car and the clip and sequetually weld the three or four layers back into place. The biggest challenge is getting the lip for the hatch square.

Look at how much the back fenders are bowed out! that thing needs everything behind the rear doors! It's a gonner...

Oh, and a 944 would look very odd with a 924 rear fender width on it - unless you did a 924 CGT replica!

this is very similar to how my car was totaled. The floor of the trunk is probably buckled, the rear quarters are gone and there is a good possibility that the suspension mounts could be messed up. No shots of the top but if the roof is bent in anyway its a goner. The estimate on my car for very similar damage was $11,000 Canadian. Im sure you could tack on the $250 rear end and have a $hitty handling Porsche... but that kind of defeats the purpose, right?
