scca car

I have an opportunity to purchase a set up used scca car.
What would be the approx value. This car was not running for 2- 3 years. Fiberglass fenders, hood, lean windows, fuel cell, fire system. msd, dual webbers, roll cage etc, etc.

Some of those parts look to be worth a lot of money. You would have to replace a lot of rubber parts to get it running again. Race cars are hard to price, but are rarely worth the sum of their parts.

The bad thing about that car, that is a pretty rare set-up on the webbers. It would have a custom dme in it, to make it all work. Would be a mess to get tuned right.

as far as the dme goes it seems to have an aftermarket msd ignition system with adjustable timing pot. What parts would be worth something to a scaa racer, ,or someone looking to build a car?

The body parts look sweet but that engine looks like one big mess, different sizes piping fitted together, Home made brackets all over the place, You would have to tear down that motor and start all over, I wonder what he did inside the engine. Also like noted before looks like some of those body parts are big money, Like those wheels and other misc body parts. I would buy it cheat and play with it

Do you have a history on the car? Specifically, why did it stop running? Can it be restarted? What class did it run in? Knowing what class can help you determine how many upgrades are on the car. (Think suspension...)

Looks like a fun project, but fun projects usually add up in dollar amounts. If the window was open for the past two years, then plan on replacing all harnesses (belts) and possibly the seats and padding on the roll bar.

I've seen a weber setup before - Euro-Performance in Garfield, NJ does that type of setup for 944's and 968's.

Still, the project does look tempting.

SCCA requires harness belts to be replaced every two years anyway.
Home-made brackets are normal in race cars.

Looks like fun, but if it does not fit a current class (rules can change from time to time), it may be good only as a DE car without lotsa money to bring the car to current rules.

If the car is too rough, for the right price it's worth it just for the trick bits & pieces.

To gauge a price for the car, it would be helpful to know more of the 'goodies' that are installed. For example:
Coil over suspension setup?
LSD tranny?
Accusump?
Condition of interior?
Fire suppression system?
Kill switch?

How much time on the engine?
Cross-drilled crank?
Spares?
Previous damage?
Was it competitive in its class?

i did see fire supression system and a kill switch.
how can i tell if its a LSD?

the car should be at my house at 11717 withen 2 weeks, ,kinda far fron Rochester but thanks for asking! , I'll pick it up because it is interesting. It will fun just to clean it up and try to get it running. I know it is difficult to judge value with the limited info\pictures BUT: if I could pick it up for @2K could I go wrong?>

LSD test---Put the rear up on stands and spin one wheel, if both wheels go in the same direction = LSD. If the opposite wheel spins in the opposite direction = non-LSD

For 2K you won't go wrong. You won't get rich parting it out, but you will make money on it.

Sorry I edited that out, but the fact that we both deal in 924/944 Porsches makes us both pimps in my book.

I just realized that it is a 944 under all that and that drastically changes my view on wanting the car. Still a nice project but not my bag.

If you part it out I'd still be interested in the LSD if so equiped but that's about it.

Suspension is awesome. Took me 3 trips to the terminal to get it, but all is good. It is sitting on my bench getting ready to be rebuilt. Thanks again!
