Fuel Level Sender Gasket

Looking to replace #30, b/c thats where the bad smells come from, right?

Ok.. I follow the http://clarks-garage.com/shop-manual/elect-13.htm Level Indication Problems/Repair procedure (bottom set of instructions) until #3 - On 1985.5 and newer cars, turn the black plastic locking ring counter-clockwise to remove. Damn thing won't budge. Will WD-40 do the trick, or is there another way? Or are my girly-hands not the right tool for this job?

Not always. Could be the filler hose connections. Could be the vent hoses going across the top of the tank. Could be the tank itself is cracked of has holes from a stereo speaker install.

When was the last time you changed your timing and balance belts and/or cam chain and tensioner?

Well, I've pulled the carpet area - no holes in the metal beneath. I've replaced the vent hose (as it connects to the sunroof drain tube.

Filler hose would be next, assuming the sender gasket doesnt correct the issue. In trying to track the leak down, it is the smelliest around the top of the sender.

Now.. How do I get the #&^*#$ black cap thing off?

The vent hose for the gas tank is not the drains for the sunroof.

Takes a special wrench to take out the later fuel level senders.
