tire sizes...

so i need to buy new summer tires.

i have fuchs wheels, 7 inch fronts, 8 inch backs. i found a set of V rated tires that i like. problem is, they don't make quite the exact size i need for the front. i am currently running 215/60/15 in the front and 225/60/15 in the back. i was thinking of running 205/65/15 in the front (which gives me a slightly narrower tire up front, but maintains nearly the same diameter) and 225/60/15 in the back.

any thoughts/ideas?

oh, and after changing every damn pulley and the water pump, my new belts seem to be doing just fine

technically all you need is H rated tires. Your car doesnt go faster than 130 (although I did that in my friends mustang with H rated tires..got kinda scary).

Toyo Proxes T1S are good, or Proxes 4. A little expensive but worth their price.

A 245/50-15 tyre is the proper diameter for the rear. Only a couple cars used this size in the mid'80s... a Firebird I think. Good luck finding that size now.. Otherwise, most people run 225/50-15..

I wouldn't bother. THe difference in tread area is minimal and you don't have an imbalance of weight at allI just use 225/50's all around. The 225/60 is a lot taller, making slower acceleration also.

Look at tirerack.com at the tire specs for a single type of tire and you can see the difference in outside diameter for all the sizes of that tire. That's the best way to tell. If you did go with a 215/60 on front, you'd want something like a 225/55 in back ideally.

i run the 225/50 15 all around when i dont drive with the 18's. it allows me to drift with a slight understeer, and still give me excellent traction when accelerating.
