94 968 price check

Thinking about getting a 968. I've owned a 944NA and 951 in the past.

This one is a bit expensive at $20k but with low miles. Obviously you can't tell much from these little pictures, but is the price out of line for a nice car if it checks out?

Any help? Is there a 968 board/listserv that I should ask this question to?

about 4-5k too high, even considering the mileage.
Check this one out for reference:
FS: 1995 Porsche 968 $11,800 blk/tan

Sure it has higher mileage (though not formidably so) but it's also half the price and in similar condition. Also, as the add highlights, find out if the owner has treated the 968 R+P problem, which is expensive. I would be wary of a car iwth 37k for this reason.

I agree, its a bit too high, but with low miles and a car in nice condition, the guy may get lucky and find a buyer whose looking for the exactly that; it's worth what someone will pay.

968 prices can be all over the board, have seen East Coast high-mileage '92 tips sell for as low as $4500.

Personally, I prefer the value of a high-mileage car, and like the odds gambling on such. But my contrarian view is in the minority.

Thanks for the feedback...after some searching I found 968.net and I'm doing some homework. I didn't know about the R+P issue that is helpful.

I'll pay "full price" but want a nice car that I don't have to sink time and money into right away. Like many of us, been there done that!

Thinking about this more, I think I want a convertible instead of a coupe. I guess those are going to be a bit more expensive?

I think my only comment is that I had the same experience as Stophos is having...a nice car for a good price that nobody wanted.

With 968's, it really seems to be a buyer's market (if market is the right word), because they're nice cars, but performance and driving-wise, nothing really stands out head and shoulders above other sports cars. "It's a Porsche" is probably its best selling point.

If you want to get something different or like the styling, a 968 fits the bill, but car-wise, honestly, an M3 is a superior vehicle imho.

Perhaps. I looked a M3 a couple of weeks ago and didn't fit well in the car at all. I'm 6'4". I fit fine in all of the other cars that I've had (911, 914, 951, 944) so I'm hoping the 968 will accommodate my dimensions. The other thing, IMHO, about the M3 is that I see them everywhere...and the styling is a bit too fast and furious for my taste. But that's just me. I'm going to look at the 968 mentioned above this weekend. Pictures are one thing, seeing and driving are another. To me high teens or low 20s seems like a bargain...my wife's VW Cabrio cost $25K out the door when it was new...yet if I pay a premium I want a really nice car.

Fit-wise, 968 will be identical as your 944/951. As a prospective 968 buyer, you hold all the cards, so to speak. Good luck.
